Are you getting the results you want?

Once you have committed to a passionate purpose and started to pursue it, persistence is an essential success strategy. When you persist, you persevere and maintain your intention in spite of difficulty. Persistence requires strong willpower, unremitting determination, and stamina. For success in pursuits of passionate purpose and life, unrelenting effort is mandatory.

Sometimes it feels like progress is as slow as molasses. How do you continue despite the rejections, obstacles, confusion, and challenges that surface along life’s path? Here’s help for rising above the heap of hindrances: Mindfully continue with focused determination using a ‘divide and conquer’ approach.

If this sounds easier said than done, consider the following sage advice from a real winner whose story is more fully described in my book, Pursuit of Passionate Purpose:

“You need a vision of where you want to go. Then break the journey to get there into smaller steps.”
Johnny Halberstadt, running champion, sub 4-minute miles

Practical Pointers

  • Commit. Pledge yourself to a clear purpose for which you have passion. Increase your clarity.
  • Divide. Choose to work on a small piece of your purpose. Build focus.
  • Conquer. Take action and direct — with relentless determination — your head, heart, and hands energy toward your purpose.
  • Develop. Establish ways to receive feedback. Open your ears and hear the response. Use the information to adjust as necessary and also build your energy.
  • Allow. Let go of attachment toward a certain way to attain your goal. By reducing internal struggle, you increase the impact of your energy.

Are you appropriately persistent?

8th Practice of Prosperity

Effective Passionate Pursuers use the 8th Practice of Prosperity: “Mindfully persevere with focused determination toward your goal using a ‘divide and conquer’ approach.” Once committed to a clear purpose or destination, then divide the journey into parts and conquer the whole, piece-by-piece.

Recall that over this year in monthly installments, this newsletter is highlighting each of the “12 Practices of Prosperity” described in my presentations, consulting, coaching, products, and soon-to-be available book, Pursuit of Passionate Purpose.
