Practical Pointers for Attraction

Attraction Strategy at Work / Blog

They say, be careful for what you ask because the Attraction Strategy is a force that works. Recall that my 2018 theme was: “Begin NOW! — Resolve and Start Fresh.” I’m happy to report that it delivered!

I am so honored now to be on Governor Jared Polis’ Cabinet as the Chief Information Officer and Executive Director of the Office of Information Technology for the State of Colorado. It’s a huge job to keep all systems running and information flowing securely for the 33,000 state employees and 5M citizens of Colorado. I have resigned from Radish, where a strong leadership team with some new additions is hard at work. My 2019 theme is “Enjoy the Journey” inspired by Scott Friedman, a top notch speaker and motivational humorist.

Practical Pointers for Attraction

The Attraction Strategy, as described in my book, Pursuit of Passionate Purpose (p.156), is to power the pull. Here’s how:

Hold a broad intention of what you want.
Be open to the possibilities.
Think — believe, visualize, and affirm getting it.
Feel passionately about getting it.
Take action and engage others to get it.
Allow and let go of attachment to a certain outcome.

Really? When you know what you want — and can visualize getting it, believe you will get it, talk as if you have it, feel passionately about getting it, and take action to attain it, while remaining flexible and open to the possibilities — you are more likely to get the desired outcome. Believing, visualizing, and talking are all parts of thinking. How do you know if the energy is strong enough? When the energy is right, what you want will come to you with ease.

Yes, I did use the Attraction Strategy. Back in November, Governor-elect Polis spoke on the radio and called for the right people to apply for his cabinet positions. I applied online, while talking with anyone I could who was involved with the transition or state government. I said daily affirmations. I used Florence Scovel Shinn’s words from her classic book The Game of Life: “I attract and embrace the right work, for the right pay, with the right people, in the right location, to make the right difference in the world.” I continued to think positively and affirm that anything was possible.

My background and credentials were a match. I have worn many hats and have evolved from engineer, to product / business manager, academician, educator, researcher, serial technology entrepreneur, certified management consultant, board member, author, speaker, blogger, non-profit executive, philanthropist, volunteer, and social change agent. Throughout this life path of increasing responsibility, effectively managing information technology has been a common thread.

Now that I am in my new position, I can say that I am leveraging all my career and life experience. It is a perfect match.

Summary

The Attraction Strategy works. More times than not when you hold a broad intention, are open to the opportunities, when the energy of head, heart, and hands is strong enough to create a positive attraction, and when something is not blocking the effort, you will receive what you want.
