Has this ever happened to you?
With the pending availability of my book in December, I should feel like an expectant mother about to give birth. Yet, rather than allowing my heart to sing out in ecstasy, I have been bogged down directing the ‘tasks’ related to the delivery.
My head (the rational, task master) had once more given no time to my heart (the passionate, creative side) to influence the journey. Why wasn’t I using the 2nd Practice of Prosperity — the Polarity Strategy — to assimilate disparate parts of self into wholeness and balance in life? (See the February 2004 Newsletter for more on this.)
Then serendipity arrived. On a power hike this morning in between working diligently to cross off tasks from my to-do list, the sun began to shine again and I met Ellie Sciarra, the tap dancer featured in Pursuit of Passionate Purpose. She reminded me (and now I am reminding you) about allowing the heart to sing and the soul to dance joyfully:
“Release the project to the universe. Help is on the way from people you don’t even know will help.”
What do YOU need to let go of so you can allow prosperity — and what you really want — to find you? Persistence (discussed in the August 2004 Newsletter) must be balanced with allowing. Then I thought about Chapter 10 on the Allowing Strategy:
- Effective Passionate Pursuers are flexible, open to possibilities, and receptive to options along the way, yet hold firm to the broad intention and pursue it persistently.
- Stop trying to control uncontrollable elements in your journey to reach the purpose. You may be surprised at what your creativity and serendipity deliver.
Practical Pointers
Here are a few of the many proven suggestions on the “Allowing Strategy” found in Pursuit of Passionate Purpose:
- Broaden. While following your plan, allow the path toward your purpose to unfold. Don’t be vested in the exact outcome, but be committed to a broader intention.
- Trust. Have faith that that the Universe, God, or your spiritual protectors, whatever wording works for you, will not leave you now.
- Accept. Be open to serendipity and help from others.
11th Practice of Prosperity
Effective Passionate Pursuers follow the 11th Practice of Prosperity: “Use the Allowing Strategy to be clear on what you want and allow how you get it to unfold.”
Recall that over this year in monthly installments, this newsletter is highlighting each of the “12 Practices of Prosperity” described in my presentations, consulting, coaching, products, and soon-to-be available book, Pursuit of Passionate Purpose. What do I mean by prosperity? All that you want in work and life — real rewards of meaning, satisfaction, results, financial gain, and more.
